The venue would be at at Republic Polytechnic Sports Complex. Fyi, the competition will starts at 8am and ends in the late afternoon

Please take note that the POL-ITE 2011 is held at Republic Polytechnic during this Saturday & Sunday, at the Sports Complex. None competing archers are welcome to support the competition.

For Novice & Open category archers who do not know how to get to the location, please meet at Woodlands Interchange MRT Control Station at 7AM (please be responsible to reach at least 5-10mins earlier).

For Standard & Intermediate category archers, please be at RP Sports Complex latest by 12pm.

If you have any doubts or any clarifications, please contact the seniors ASAP.

Basic Equipments required

Hi juniors,

For all those who have ordered your equipments and are getting your them soon. This is what you need in the near future.

Firstly, with regards to scoring, I will need all of you to bring a notebook and pen EVERY TRAINING (Especially those who are going for pol-ite)

Secondly, A tool box is also required to do bow maintenance when required. Below are the necessary/basic items needed in your toolbox:

Pen Knife

Thread/string (for nocking point)

Super glue

+/- screwdriver

hot melt glue stick

Plier

Lighter

Permanent marker (for arrow marking purposes, ***Very important for archers going for pol-ite)

Allen Keys set (Just keep allen keys with the different sizes your equipment needs)

Lastly, juniors are advise to get their own arrow pullers. The reason of getting arrow puller is to help you to pull up your arrow using lesser strength and preventing you from bending your own arrows.

Basic Archery Course-Practical

Hi Freshies,
If you did not attend the theory lesson for the basic archery course, you can still come on our practical sessions and we will give you a crash course during the practical sessions.

The timings for practical sessions are:
-Monday 6.30pm-8.30pm
-Wednesday 4.30pm-6.30pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm

Do note that each person only has to attend one session per week and please drop us an email if you have not let us know of which time slot you would like to attend for the practical sessions. Also if you have picked a particular slot, please come for that time slot for all the practical sessions.

Lastly, there will be a practical and theory test at the end of the course so if you are unsure about anything, feel free to ask any seniors around.

Calling out to all NYP students who would has the slightest interest in archery!

This year’s club crawl, we will be allowing participants to try out the fun shoot at the Stadium from 11am to 5pm! From the fun shoot, you will be able to understand more of the technique of aiming & hitting the X!

Apart from the fun shoot, we will be holding a CCA Orientation, where you will meet the seniors who will be able to share their personal experience and point view so that you can know more of the sports!
All you have to do is to register yourself at booth no.33, located right in front of the rock wall in the Sports Hall. Feel free to approach any of the archers to clarify any doubts, the archers do not eat humans for a living, so do approach them for any queries.

Meeting Time for SP Open

This saturday and sunday will be the SP Open and the meeting time for both days will be 7.40am at Dover Mrt Station as registration starts at 8am. Please do not be late, if not you will have to find your own way into SP. Hey guys, coach says that there is a need for everyone to have a stretch and a score book for future trainings as the stretch band will be used to do strengthening exercises. -No stabilizers allowed
-Micro adjusment sights allowed, but they have to be pushed in to the last hole

AAS Annual Shoot 2010 and Trials on Saturday 11 December 2010

Hey people! The invitation of the AAS Annual Shoot 2010 is out and it will be held on the 18,19 December 2010 at Zhenghua National Archery Range.
Format: -Open Class(Male/Female) @18m, Vertical Triple 40cm target face
-18under Recurve(Male/Female) @18m, Vertical Triple 40cm target face

We are all shooting only on the sunday 19 december as the saturday will be for the other lower categories(U16, U14 etc)

Due to the upcoming annual shoot, there will be trials for the shoot this coming saturday, 11 december 2010 and please reach the store by 8.30am sharp! We do not want any delays to the trials as it will take a long time. The trials will have the same format as the competition, all of us will be shooting the vertical triple 40cm face.

I will post the details and location for the annual shoot at a later date and in the meantime train well and study hard! Do contact me for any details of the shoot.

Attendance is compulsory and I need you guys to try your best.

Based on the school's requirements:

Anyone representing NYP should qualify by exceeding the minimum requirements of the 2 tests:
i. 2.4km: 12.20min (men) 16.20min(women)
ii. Chin up/incline: 5(men) 8(women)

Anyone not qualifying is not allowed to take part in the POL-ITE or any other event representing NYP.

Please spread this message to all archers who don't check the blog,

We will have training on these two stations tomorrow.

I will schedule the tester to come sometime next week (there will be another blog post to tell you guys which date it is)

Note that if you fail the test, you will not be able to participate in the coming Pol-ite or any other competition for that matter, this is direct orders from above.

The results will be valid until 1 april 2011 before you have take it again (1 study year).

In case I was not clear, ALL ARCHERS will have to take the test, it is just that it is more pressing for POL-ITE archers to pass because of the coming POL-ITE.

Next Saturday, 2nd Oct 2010, there will be pol-ite selection trials.

The trials will be held in competition format so i want everyone of you to be there.

For the seniors, you guys will take your 2 rounds of 30m (1st round 122cm, 2nd round 80cm) scoring to decide your teams.

For the juniors, you guys will be taking your two rounds of 18m 80cm face for selection.

There will be 6 arrows per end, 6 ends per round and a total of two rounds.

(total arrows = 6*6*2 = 72 arrows)

Total time per end will be 4 minutes.

After the first round, there will be a break of 15 minutes before commencement of the second round.

EVERYBODY PLEASE COME ON TIME, THE LATER YOU REACH, THE LATER YOU GO HOME :)

This is regarding the MONTHLY CLUB FEE(AUGUST).

This month due to the study break, most of the trainings were classified as unofficial trainings. Hence, I will not be collecting the club fund for this month.

Po-lite considerations

Dear archers,

Pol-ite is approaching so I am going to make myself clear, for pol-ite selections, there will be limited slots so you will not only be assessed by your score but also by your attendance* and reliability**.

*Attendance includes lateness and the time u leave training.

Lateness is very important because during the competition, once you miss the equipment inspection timing, you will not be allowed to shoot.

**Reliability refers to your commitment level and attitude.

Commitment is very important because all of you selected will be posted into teams and previously, archers who were chosen for competitions failed to turn up for it and thus caused their team to lose any chance of winning.

Just for your information, MOST competitions will be held over 2 days being Saturdays and Sundays and they end later than our normal training times, so if u can leave early for even trainings, i am doubtful as to whether you can even stay throughout the competition.

I hope I was clear in conveying what I expect from you guys in future trainings.

Good luck for your exams and train hard afterwards!

Equipments

All those who have gotten their equipments are to have their stringer and bow square inside their quiver at all times in case of last minute tuning of the bow during competition.

Also with regards to scoring, I will need all of you to bring a notebook and pen EVERY TRAINING so that you can take your score on your own and aim for a higher score every training. And obviously you should get a notebook that will fit into your quiver.

A tool box is also required to repair other stuff other than your bows, items to be in your toolbox includes:

Pen knife
Reel of thread
Superglue
+ & - screwdrivers
Hot melt stick
Pliers
Lighter
Permanent marker (black or blue or any contrasting colour from your silver shaft)
Allen keys (best is if they are in a set with different sizes)

You guys should also get your own arrow pullers, either get the friction cloth thing or buy the arrow puller from Mr. Tang. If you dun have arrow pullers, you tend to anyhow pull and it may bend your arrows, who wants bent arrows? so get an arrow puller right now!

Please also purchase badminton grip from any sports shop, get the 3 for $10 one and please do not get the one with cotton, it is not recommended. This badminton grip will prevent the bow from slipping away from your palm when you sweat which will result in a bad shot.

Lastly, archers who have not gotten their fletching jig, please get one from Mr. Tang. You are allowed to share it with another archer. (MAXIMUM two archers per jig)

It is very important to own a fletching jig because when competition draws near and you need to borrow a jig, you may not be able to get one because your friends are also fletching for competition. (This is speaking from experience)

Wednesday's unofficial training will start at 4pm, please be at the store room at 4pm if your want to train, thank you.

Dear Juniors,

Please make the decision to be competitive or recreational.

There is a need for this because for competitive archers, you all need to purchase your own bow and arrows. This is important because the bow is tuned to the archer.

For competitive archers, please make your decision of purchasing either metal or wooden bows ASAP because ordering and shipping takes time. Furthermore the bows need to be tuned so that you guys will be ready for competition.

For recreational archers, there will not be a need for you guys to purchase anything but we do require you to shoot responsibly.

Monthly Club Fee

We would like to inform you that our club has the practice of collecting a monthly club fee of $15 to be contributed to the club fund.

75% of the fund is used to cover coaching fees as the school does not cover all of it. The rest goes into maintenance and events.

Hi Archers!

Due to the rain on wednesday 19 May, the BAC session 4-6pm, was cancelled. As mentioned, the session will be pushed forward to the following wednesday 26 May instead. And your test will be on 2 June. Timings will be the same.

For all other sessions, Monday 6.30-8.30 pm, and Wednesday 6.30-8.30 pm, your BAC test will be carried out during the week of 24 May. So do revise your notes and have plenty of rest.
